निशुल्क नेत्र जांच शिविर: ग्रामीण समुदाय के लिए एक संवेदनशील पहल
जनमित्र न्यास/मानवाधिकार जननिगरानी समिति (PVCHR) द्वारा शिव नादर फाउंडेशन के शिक्षा प्लस कार्यक्रम के सहयोग से ग्रामीण और वंचित समुदायों के बीच स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं की सुलभता सुनिश्चित करने के लिए समय-समय पर स्वास्थ्य शिविरों का आयोजन किया जाता है। इसी कड़ी में, 17 जुलाई 2025 को कठिराव पंचायत भवन में एक निशुल्क नेत्र जांच शिविर का सफल आयोजन किया गया।
🔍 शिविर का उद्देश्य

यातना पीड़ितों और जरूरतमंद लोगों को नेत्र जांच, उपचार और सलाह देना।

पूर्व चयनित मोतियाबिंद मरीजों का पुनः परीक्षण कर उपचार की स्थिति का मूल्यांकन करना।

नए मरीजों की पहचान कर उन्हें आवश्यक उपचार के लिए मार्गदर्शन देना।
⏰ शिविर की गतिविधियां
शिविर का संचालन सुबह 10:00 बजे शुरू हुआ और दोपहर 3:00 बजे तक चला। इस दौरान निम्नलिखित सेवाएं प्रदान की गईं:
1. पूर्व चयनित मोतियाबिंद मरीजों का पुनः परीक्षण

इन मरीजों का पूर्व में निशुल्क ऑपरेशन, लेंस प्रत्यारोपण और चश्मा वितरण किया गया था।

पुनः परीक्षण में उनकी दृष्टि की स्थिति की जांच की गई और आवश्यक सलाह दी गई।

कई मरीजों ने साझा किया कि उपचार के बाद उनके जीवन में सकारात्मक बदलाव आया है।
2. नए मरीजों की जांच

कुल 41 नए मरीजों की आंखों की जांच की गई।

इनमें से 6 मरीजों को ऑपरेशन हेतु आर.जे. शंकरा हॉस्पिटल रेफर किया गया।

शिविर का संचालन जनमित्र न्यास के मंगला प्रसाद के नेतृत्व में हुआ। साथ ही आर.जे. शंकरा हॉस्पिटल की ओर से विशेषज्ञों की टीम ने सेवा प्रदान की:

Inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, this hospital is now a permanent eye care center offering services to thousands—particularly the underserved and marginalized communities of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
🏥 The Foundation and Mission of Shankara Eye Hospital
Part of the nationally respected Shankara Eye Foundation, the Varanasi unit was established to address the growing needs for specialized eye care in the region. The hospital provides free and subsidized services including cataract surgeries, lens transplants, and general eye care to those most in need.
Since its inauguration by the Prime Minister, Shankara Eye Hospital has quickly built a reputation for clinical excellence, patient dignity, and social responsibility.
👁️🗨️ Free Eye Camp by Jan Mitra Nyas on 17 July 2025
On July 17, 2025, Jan Mitra Nyas (JMN), in collaboration with PVCHR and with support from Shiksha Plus (Shiv Nadar Foundation), organized a free eye check-up camp at the Panchayat Bhavan, Kathiraav, in Varanasi. The camp provided:

Eye screening for 41 new cataract patients

Follow-up checks for previously operated patients

Referral of 6 patients to Shankara Eye Hospital for surgery

Post-operative advice and community counseling
These camps have been an ongoing effort by JMN to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of torture survivors, Dalits, and other marginalized groups in rural Varanasi.
🙏 Visit by Human Rights Defenders – July 18, 2025
On the following day, July 18, 2025, Dr. Lenin Raghuvanshi (PVCHR) and Ms. Shruti Nagvanshi (Jan Mitra Nyas) visited Shankara Eye Hospital to observe the post-camp follow-up process, engage with hospital staff, and personally experience the facility.
During their two-hour visit, they:

Used the hospital’s eye screening services

Interacted with medical professionals and staff

Ate lunch with patients and caregivers, noting the quality and hygiene

Observed the discipline, compassion, and structure of the hospital

Praised the permanent camp model as a sustainable way to serve rural communities
They both appreciated the professionalism and care offered at the hospital, calling it a “model of public-private synergy for social good.”
📖 Shiksha Plus: Literacy Meets Empowerment
Running alongside these health initiatives is the Shiksha Plus program by the Shiv Nadar Foundation. Implemented in collaboration with Jan Mitra Nyas, the initiative promotes:
