🏥 Free Eye Check-up Camp for Marginalized Communities in Varanasi

Location: Panchayat Bhawan, Kathiraav, Baragaon, Varanasi
Date: 19 June 2025

A free eye screening camp was successfully organized at Kathiraav Panchayat Bhawan, Baragaon (Varanasi) by JanMitra Nyas / People's Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR) in collaboration with the Shiv Nadar Foundation’s Shiksha+ program, and supported by R.J. Shankara Eye Hospital, Varanasi.

The camp aimed to provide free consultation, treatment, and surgical referrals for the visually impaired, especially torture survivors and marginalized individuals, in alignment with human dignity and healthcare access.

👁️‍🗨️ A total of 41 cataract patients were examined during the camp. One patient was identified as needing urgent surgery and was referred to R.J. Shankara Eye Hospital for further care.

The camp was coordinated by Mangla Prasad from JanMitra Nyas, while services were rendered by Dr. Shruti (Eye Specialist), along with Satish, Aarti, Sanket, and camp manager Pankaj Tripathi, all from the Shankara Hospital team. Pankaj Tripathi also supervised the medical activities.

The camp arrangements were supported by JanMitra Nyas team members Arvind Kumar, Sanjay Rajbhar, Priya Yadav, Safia, Halima, Shaheen, and Laxmi, whose contributions were instrumental in the camp’s success.

An initiative of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, Shiksha+ is designed to support underserved communities through education and health interventions. The Foundation is committed to social transformation through impactful partnerships and long-term developmental goals.

जनमित्र न्यास / पीवीसीएचआर एवं शिक्षा+ (शिव नादर फाउंडेशन) के सहयोग से आर.जे. शंकरा आई हॉस्पिटल द्वारा एक निशुल्क नेत्र जांच शिविर आयोजित किया गया। शिविर का उद्देश्य था नेत्र रोगों से पीड़ित ज़रूरतमंदों को मुफ्त जांच, सलाह और उपचार प्रदान करना, विशेषकर संघर्षरत यातना पीड़ितों को।

इस दौरान 41 मोतियाबिंद रोगियों की जांच की गई, जिनमें से एक मरीज को ऑपरेशन हेतु रेफर किया गया। शिविर का संचालन मंगला प्रसाद द्वारा किया गया और डॉक्टर श्रुति, सतीश, आरती, संकेत, व पंकज त्रिपाठी ने सेवाएं दीं। संचालन में अरविंद, संजय, प्रिया, साफिया, हलीमा, शाहीन, लक्ष्मी का योगदान सराहनीय रहा।
